Si bien hace unos meses os anunciábamos los nominados de los World Press Photo 2020, se acaba de hacer oficial la lista de los ganadores.
A diferencia de otras ediciones, que se hacía una ceremonia en Amsterdam para anunciar los ganadores, este año se canceló la ceremonia debido a la crisis del COVID-19. Así, que en esta 63ª edición han optado para un anuncio online a través de sus canales.
World Press Photo of the Year
El jurado seleccionó la fotografía de Yasuyoshi Chiba, “Straight Voice”, como la foto ganadora con el World Press Photo of the Year. La imagen muestra a un joven, iluminado por teléfonos móviles, recitando poesía de protesta mientras los manifestantes cantan consignas pidiendo un gobierno civil, durante un apagón en Jartum, Sudán, el 19 de junio de 2019.
World Press Photo Story of the Year
El jurado eligió “Kho, the Genesis of a Revolt” de Romain Laurendeau como World Press Photo Story of the Year. La serie ganadora cuenta la historia de la profunda inquietud de la juventud argelina que, al atreverse a desafiar a la autoridad, inspiró al resto de la población a unirse a su acción, dando origen al mayor movimiento de protesta en Argelia en décadas.
